Welcome 2021 - What we are looking forward to in Frankfurt

Welcome 2021 - What we are looking forward to in Frankfurt

After the year 2020, in which we had to experience so many negative things and had to do without so many nice things, we all hope that 2021 will be a better year. While that won't be the case right away with the turn of the year, there is still legitimate reason for hope despite the fact that infection rates continue to be far too high. It is still unclear whether we will be able to enjoy events we have come to love, such as Wäldchestag, the Festival of Lights in the Palmengarten or the Museumsuferfest, together again in 2021. At the moment that is hardly conceivable. But there are many indications that in the foreseeable future we will once again be able to enjoy more freedom and hopefully also more closeness and togetherness. And that is reason enough for us to look with a positive eye at some of the things we are particularly looking forward to in Frankfurt in 2021.

Opening of the Goetheturm

After already being completed in late summer 2020, the new Goetheturm should finally be open to the public in spring. We are very much looking forward to climbing the new tower and enjoying a breathtaking view of our beautiful city from the observation deck. As soon as it's clear when exactly the tower will open, you'll find out here with us, of course.

Exciting new openings

Due to the Corona crisis, some shops and restaurants in Frankfurt unfortunately had to close already and it is to be feared that more locations will follow them in 2021. On the other hand, we are looking forward to exciting new openings in the cultural as well as gastronomic sector in the new year. For example, after many delays, the MOMEM, the world's first electronic music museum, is finally set to get underway in 2021. And as soon as the pandemic allows, the new Dialogue Museum will also open on the B-level of the Hauptwache. Things are also set to get underway for the German Romantic Museum in 2021. So it could be an exciting year in terms of new openings.

Return of Culture

We are particularly looking forward to this: When we can introduce you to new events in Frankfurt's museums, theatres, concert halls and clubs in our events calendar and when cinema releases, rather than home cinema releases and streaming tips, set the tone in our cinema section. Strolling through the SCHIRN again, enjoying special plays at the Stalburg Theater or Theater Alte Brücke, watching the latest James Bond at the Astor Film Lounge or an arthouse gem at Cinema - all this will be possible again sometime in 2021. And we hope we don't have to wait until Easter for that.

The Frankfurt Tip Guide 2021

Having not published the new Frankfurt-Tipp Guide for 2021 at the end of December as we did in previous years, we plan to be able to kick off a return to normality (albeit perhaps a new form of one) with the new print magazine in the second half of the year. We're already hard at work gathering ideas and putting together top tips. And of course, you can be a part of the magazine again this time - either by entering our cover competition or with your personal top tips. We will probably launch a call for participation in spring 2021.

Frankfurt Fashion Week 2021

It is supposed to be a big event, involving the whole city. And a sign that larger events can be possible again, even under pandemic conditions. Whether the ambitious plans can actually be realized, however, won't be known for a few months. What exactly is planned, you can read HERE.

Christmas Market 2021

If everything goes well, then we will be able to experience at the end of 2021 again an atmospheric Christmas market with many beautiful stalls, where we can meet with loved ones for mulled wine, bratwurst and Co. and co. Until then it is still a long time, but we are already looking forward to it.

Well - whether everything we are looking forward to, we actually come, is of course not yet clear due to the current situation. The only thing that is really certain at the moment is that nothing is certain yet. 2021 can still bring many surprises - good, and unfortunately also bad. Nevertheless, we want to look forward to the new year with hope and positivity - a year in which we will once again present you with many beautiful Frankfurt tips! In this sense: A happy new year 2021!!!!

And what are you looking forward to in the new year?
