After almost a decade away from the public eye, former TV presenter and entertainer Stefan Raab returns with a mysterious video on Instagram, sparking speculation among fans and the media. In the clip published on Raab's Instagram profile, Elton, known from "TV Total", can be seen searching for Stefan Raab in a picturesque seascape. "You're just skin and bones," remarks Elton, "everyone's looking for you. You've been missing for almost ten years, it's time for a comeback!"
Raab replies: "Music, a cool show, the chancellor duel - I've already done all that." But there is one more ambition he wants to pursue, the entertainer claims: "Becoming an influencer!" And he has big plans: he wants to reach as many followers as Pamela Reif, the German fitness influencer with 9.2 million followers. "Watch out, Elton, if I break the nine million mark, I promise you I'll do something again," says Raab. "Even fitness videos if necessary."
Raab's successor to "Wetten, dass...?"
The video leaves plenty of room for interpretation. The allusion to influencers raises the question of whether Raab could possibly take over the legendary TV format "Wetten, dass...?". Thomas Gottschalk hosted his last edition of "Wetten, dass...?" in November in Offenburg and had previously expressed skepticism about influencers. "I have to be careful that I don't waste all my time criticizing reality stars or YouTube influencers because I don't believe in them," the presenter said in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung before his departure.
The ZDF also reports on its website about a possible television comeback for Raab and places an article about "Wetten, dass...?" below it. Could this also be a hint?
According to a recent report in the "Bild" newspaper, a return to the camera is not really on the cards despite the Instagram video.
Fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement as to what Stefan Raab is actually planning and whether he will soon be enriching the television landscape with his creative ideas again.
