The infection figures in Wiesbaden continue to rise unabated. The administrative staff of the state capital Wiesbaden has therefore decided on Monday, October 26, further measures. These are based on the specifications in the escalation concept of the state of Hesse for the independent cities and counties.
Following new measures apply from Thursday, 29. October through Sunday, November 15, for the time being.
Only five people or members of two households may be together in public spaces. For private gatherings of a primarily sociable nature (celebrations) outside of dwellings, it remains with the regulation made last week that a maximum of ten people may gather at these, this applies in particular in commercially leased rooms and pubs. For gatherings in private rooms, especially apartments, it is recommended that a maximum of ten people from no more than two households meet.
Gatherings and events as well as cultural events such as theatres, operas, concerts, cinemas and similar events with more than 50 people are henceforth prohibited. In view of the advancing infection figures, the previous regulation, according to which the number of participants was limited to 100 persons, had to be tightened even further. In justified individual cases, the public health department can grant exceptions. The limit of 50 persons also applies to gatherings of religious communities for the practice of religion as well as to funeral services and burials. The limit also applies to events and guided tours in museums, castles, memorials, zoos, comparable institutions, as well as to the number of spectators at sporting events.
The obligation to cover the mouth and nose in public places is also extended. It is no longer just restaurants as well as overnight accommodations that require guests to wear mouth-to-nose coverings when entering, exiting and spending time in common areas such as restrooms, dressing rooms and spa areas. The mask requirement now also applies to attending religious services of faith communities, visiting theaters, public entertainment venues and public facilities, among other things.
The administrative staff has already adopted visitation restrictions at nursing facilities. They are in effect through and including Sunday, Nov. 15. People who live in nursing homes and care homes or in outpatient assisted living communities may then receive visits from a maximum of two people for a maximum of three times per calendar week for one hour each time. Since Monday, October 19, a general mask requirement has been in force in schools from the fifth grade onwards. Practical physical education is also prohibited in schools for all grades indoors. No spectators are allowed during training and competitions of professional, top and amateur sports indoors, and from now on - as mentioned above - a maximum of 50 spectators will be allowed outdoors. In addition, the ban on visiting Wiesbaden clinics will continue to apply.
The obligation to wear masks at bus stops will be lifted with the new regulations from Thursday 29 October, as the state has now issued an identical obligation for the whole of Hesse, so that there is no longer any need for a separate Wiesbaden regulation by general decree. Under the state regulation, which is already in effect, the mouth-to-nose covering must be worn at all times when at bus stops - regardless of whether the minimum distance from other people can be maintained.

"We know these are further drastic measures. But these are necessary to slow down the spread of the Corona pandemic again, to protect people from risk groups and to ensure that there is still sufficient treatment capacity in clinics", say Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Mayor and Head of Health Dr. Oliver Franz. "We ask all Wiesbaden residents for their understanding and urge them to comply with the measures and the wearing of a mouth-nose covering."
The administrative staff will meet again on Wednesday, October 28, to assess the situation. The meeting will also discuss whether or not the shooting star market, Winterstubb and Eiszeit can take place.
