"Wild Sunday" invites you to discover the Fechenheimer Mainbogen

'Wild Sunday' invites you to discover the Fechenheimer Mainbogen

Unfortunately, we still have to do without many events in times of Corona. But the popular summer series "Wild Sunday", which invites you to discover special places in the city in a special way, will also take place during this summer vacation - of course with Corona-related restrictions. The event will take visitors to the Fechenheimer Mainbogen on 19 July. This is where Frankfurt's Environmental Agency is carrying out its largest nature conservation project since the old airfield. And the animals are taking it in their stride: Fish, amphibians, dragonflies and water birds have already chosen the new branch of the Main and the newly excavated ponds as their new habitat; the beaver can now build its castle undisturbed on a new island in the Main.

At the "Wild Sunday", Hermann Adam from the Steinheim Fishermen's Guild and Daniel Göz from the Frankfurt Fishermen's Guild will first speak at 3 p.m. about the importance of the floodplain landscape for Main fish. Afterwards, Eva Hinrichs from the Environmental Agency and Andreas Malten from the Senckenberg Institute will lead visitors in two groups to the new tributary and to the ponds near the Carl-Ulrich bridge that have already been conquered by nature.

You are interested in attending this event? Then you need to register no later than Monday, July 13, 12 p.m., by emailing umwelttelefon@stadt-frankfurt.de or by calling the environmental phone at 069/212-39100.Since only 20 people are allowed to participate due to Corona restrictions, spots will be raffled among all inquirers and participants will receive a notification with detailed directions and hygiene rules. By participating, participants agree to abide by these hygiene rules, which includes providing information about themselves, and agree to have photos taken during the tours for the Environment Department's public relations purposes.
