Work around Central Station during fall break: Trams impaired

Work around Central Station during fall break: Trams impaired

With the start of the autumn holidays, welding work will begin on tracks and points around the main station, causing the tram lines to be impaired from Monday, 11. This will prevent tram lines 11, 14, 16, 17 and 21 from running between the main station and Platz der Republik from around 2 a.m. on Monday, October 11, until around 3 a.m. on Monday, October 25. In addition, Deutsche Bahn will be working on shafts in the track area of the trams during this period. The closure is also being used to carry out initial work on retrofitting displays for Dynamic Passenger Information (DFI) at Platz der Republik.

The best way to avoid the construction site at this highly frequented square is to use underground and suburban trains. The U4 subway line operates at maximum capacity all day long, connecting Willy-Brandt-Platz with the main train station and the Festhalle/Messe station. The S-Bahn lines S3, S4, S5 and S6 will bridge the gap between the main station and Galluswarte. There will be no rail replacement service with buses during this time.

But how do the tram lines operate before and after the main station?

Line 11

.Line 11 runs in the west between Höchst Zuckschwerdtstraße, Güterplatz and Festhalle/Messe and in the east between Fechenheim Schießhüttenstraße, Münchener Straße and Hauptbahnhof Südseite. It does not run between Hauptbahnhof/Münchener Straße and Güterplatz.

Line 14

Line 14 will run from Ernst-May-Platz in Bornheim to Hauptbahnhof/Münchener Straße and will be diverted from there to the stadium to replace the cancelled line 21. It will not run between Hauptbahnhof/Münchener Straße and Mönchhofstraße.

Line 16

The trams of line 16 are not in service between Hohenstaufenstraße and Baseler Platz. Coming from Ginnheim, they travel to Hohenstaufenstraße and are diverted from there via Güterplatz to Mönchhofstraße to replace line 14 on Mainzer Landstraße. Coming from the Offenbach city limits, the trains run to Baseler Platz and from there to the south side of the main station.

Line 17

The route of line 17 is also interrupted: Line 17 runs from Rebstockbad to Hohenstaufenstraße and from there via Güterplatz and Galluswarte to Nied Kirche. From Neu-Isenburg to Baseler Platz, it will follow its usual route and then turn off to the south side of the main station. Between Baseler Platz and Hohenstaufenstraße it does not run.

Line 21

Line 21 is cancelled and replaced by the rerouted lines 14 and 17.
