While summer still has Gibson Beach Club firmly in its grip – with palm trees, sand and deckchairs – the operators are already looking ahead to the colder months. As was announced on Thursday, the beach club on Mainzer Landstraße will be transformed into an atmospheric winter market from November onwards. The centrepiece will be an original Tyrolean alpine hut, which has been brought to Frankfurt specially from Austria.
"If we are blessed with a golden autumn, we could postpone the start of the winter market a little," said Bastian Bernhagen, managing partner of the Gibson Club, in an interview. However, summer operations will have to be discontinued by the end of October at the latest – the conversion alone will take around four weeks. Culinary concept and Christmas atmosphere According to Bernhagen, the new concept will focus on a diverse culinary offering. The existing food court will be completely relocated. Visitors can look forward to a variety of vendors offering winter specialities. The already established "Gibson Christmas hut" with mulled wine from the winemaker will once again be an integral part of the market. Special attention will be paid to the alpine hut from Tyrol. "We acquired the hut in Austria. It will create a cosy and authentic atmosphere, especially on cold days," said Rüdiger Flörcks, the club's event manager. The rustic wooden hut will not only enrich the market, but can also be rented by companies for exclusive Christmas parties or other festive occasions. Demand is already high, Flörcks emphasised – anyone interested should get in touch early.
Versatile event space in the city centre
With the planned winter market, the Gibson Club is once again demonstrating its versatility. Where there is a lively beach atmosphere in summer, a retreat for atmospheric evenings and festive gatherings is to be created in the cold season – right in the centre of Frankfurt.
