Together into the future: Trifels Verlag celebrates 80th birthday

For 80 years, the Frankfurt-based Trifels Verlag has been an integral part of the German media landscape. Gelbe Seiten, Gelbe Seiten regional and Das Örtliche: In cooperation with Deutsche Tele Medien GmbH, the publishing house markets and publishes the major directory media throughout Hesse and other German states.

Through the online platforms Frankfurt-Tipp.de and RheinMain4Family.de, the publishing house also reaches Frankfurt residents, tourists and families from the Rhine-Main region, one of Germany's strongest economic regions, on a daily basis. With the Festival4Family, the publishing house has set up one of the most important family festivals in Germany.

On May 1, the family-owned company celebrates its 80th anniversary - and has refreshed its own corporate image online for the occasion. On the new website, Trifels Verlag presents itself with its variety of offers for end consumers and medium-sized businesses. Brand new in the portfolio are products from the field of online marketing: from website design, Google Ads, video production to support in social networks.

Family business in third generation

The Trifels Verlag was founded in 1939 by Karl-Friedrich Meckel in Kaiserslautern. During the Second World War, the company was completely destroyed. The company founder was not discouraged by this and rebuilt the business after the war. The headquarters of Trifels Verlag were moved to Frankfurt am Main in 1948. In the post-war years, Karl-Friedrich Meckel focused on publishing Yellow Pages and other address directories. His sons Ekkehard and Manfried Meckel expanded their father's legacy into one of Germany's largest directory media publishers.

With its subsidiary SARAG GmbH in Saarbrücken, the Trifels Group - in cooperation with Deutsche Tele Medien GmbH - today publishes 49 editions of Gelbe Seiten, Gelbe Seiten Regional and Das Örtliche for the whole of Hesse, Saarland, large parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Hochsauerlandkreis and southern Westphalia.

Since 2003, Michael Meckel has been running the publishing house in the third generation - and has since invested in the online media sector in particular. The pleasure and leisure tip portal www.frankfurt-tipp.dehas been online for 18 years - and is a popular tipster for Frankfurt residents, people from the region and tourists.

For the past two years, the Frankfurt-Tipp Guide has been available in print as a free annual magazine.

In addition, Trifels Verlag is the publisher of the RheinMain4Family coupon book and operates the associated family portal www.rheinmain4family.de

Social commitment is a task close to the heart for the Meckel family of entrepreneurs. Almost 60 years ago, Karl-Friedrich founded the Ekkehard Foundation to promote international understanding and world peace. The foundation supports foreign students at the University of Mannheim. Once a year the Trifels Verlag organizes the Festival4Family, one of the most important family festivals in Germany. During the festival, donations are collected for the benefit of charitable organizations from the region.

Online marketing products for medium-sized businesses

People's media usage behavior has changed in the course of advancing digitalization.

That's why Trifels Verlag has recently started offering online marketing products. The goal is to advise the customers of the publishing house - predominantly from the middle class - even more comprehensively and to achieve measurable successes for them with tangible measures.

"Many of our customers simply lack the time to create a stringent and appealing online presence. Others have already laid a good foundation, but would also like to make their company stand out in search engines, expand the social media area or invest in moving image production. This is where we are the right contact," says Michael Meckel, Chairman of the Management Board. The publisher's guiding motto, "Together onwards", is clearly in focus: "Our employees provide holistic advice: we ensure that our customers are found optimally now and in the future: in the major, essential directory media and beyond."

In order to also give the new business field of online marketing more space on the company's own channels, a new website was launched - just in time for the 80th birthday of Trifels Verlag. Just in time for the 80th birthday of Trifels Verlag - the website has been fundamentally revised.

Users will now find an even easier navigation. Furthermore, there have been improvements in the graphical representation on mobile devices.
