Afrikanische Essen in Frankfurt – Top-Tipps

Mommona African Restaurant
African Queen Restaurant

Ambassel
Savanna Restaurant

Kilimanjaro

A pleasantly understated ambience, friendly service and delicious food - that's what you get at Kilimanjaro Restaurant. Highly recommended are the Sambussa Africa as a starter. The filled dumplings are pleasantly spicy and crispy deep-fried. As main course we can recommend the Kara Mara. These are strips of beef with onions and peppers, served deliciously sizzling in a clay pot. Mmmmmhh!

Mommona African Restaurant

Traditional food from East Africa is available in Sachsenhausen. Here, in addition to various meat dishes, there is also a good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, such as the vegan pumpkin soup or the alicha (with carrots, potatoes, onions and peppers). Tasting platters with different dishes are available with and without meat for one or two people.

African Queen Restaurant

Near the Frankfurt Trade Fair there is Eritrean cuisine to be enjoyed in a lovingly decorated restaurant. A nice communal experience is eating the large platter, which can be ordered in sizes for up to 6 people. Very tasty is the Zigni-Beiray (shredded beef in hot sauce with a side salad), which can be washed down with an African beer. All dishes here can also be ordered to go.

In the heart of Africa

You quickly feel at home in this atmospherically decorated restaurant near the train station. The special charm that the decor and also the service exude is positively underlined by the quality of the food. Especially nice: The mixed plates can be arranged by yourself, so that you can try different dishes of your own choice. Our tip: Be sure to make a reservation, otherwise it will be hard to get a seat.

Ambassel

In a pleasant ambience, the specialties from Ethiopia served here are convincing and can be enjoyed with a view of the Main riverbank. The menu offers you among other things the mixed appetizer plate "Ambassel", vegetarian dishes or main courses like the delicious Yebeg Tibs, a stew made of the finest lamb. Well seasoned and served very nicely and courteously.

Savanna Restaurant

Small but mighty: that's true of African restaurant Savanna. When it gets crowded in the evening in the small, cozy guest room, then you should have no fear of contact. The extremely nice service and the delicious food from Eritrea make sure that you never feel cramped here, but simply comfortable. Our tip: Order the mixed platter, which is available for up to six people. It's not only delicious, but also promotes sociability!
